WHO   IS   JESUS ?

"The son of God who loved me and gave himself for me" Galatians 2:20

Who is Jesus 2_edited.jpg

Let me introduce you to Jesus.

No greater man has ever lived or ever will live. He is God, the creator of heaven and earth. He is also a man that was born to a virgin named Mary nearly 2,000 years ago. He lived a sinless life, died on a cross, rose from the dead, and went to heaven where he is today. There have been none more powerful, and none so gentle. There have been none so wise, and none so kind. There have been none who did so much, and none so humble. He is now the judge of the world. He is the one who holds the keys of death and hell. He is the one who rules over the kingdoms of men. He is the mighty God, the Great Shepherd, the Prince of Peace, and the Friend of sinners.

We know this because...

Men who talked, lived with, and worked with Jesus wrote down what Jesus did and what he taught. These are multiple independent, eye-witness accounts of Jesus' miracles, teaching, death, resurrection, and ascension to heaven. The men who wrote these accounts are not crazy dreamers, but twelve ordinary fishermen and tax collectors. Each would spend the rest of their life being constantly persecuted and would eventually die proclaiming these things to be true. Their simple words about who Jesus is and what he said form part of the best-selling book ever published - the Bible.

More importantly for you, Jesus is your only hope.

Has anyone ever offered to take away your sins and guilt from God? Jesus has. “Behold, the Lamb of God [a name for Jesus] that takes away the sin of the world” John 1:29.  Jesus died to pay for your sins and says to you, "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" Matthew 11:28.  By come to me Jesus meant if you will believe in him and trust him with your life. In his own words, “I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.” John 12:46.

 So Much More to Tell...

“there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.” John 21:25. It would take an eternity to tell who Jesus is completely, but he will give us an eternity with him if we trust him.

Simple Summary:

  • Jesus is the creator of the world:
"All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made." John 1:3

  • Jesus is God who along with the Father and the Spirit compose the one true God.
"Jesus said to them, 'Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am"  John 8:58
Note: Abraham was a man who had died many thousands of years earlier. In other words, Jesus is God.

  • Jesus was born to a woman named Mary and was a real man
"Joseph took his wife, but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus." Matthew 1:25

  • Jesus is the Savior of the world
"there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among (men and women) by which we must be saved" Acts 4:12

  • Jesus is the judge of the world:
"God has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man who he has appointed" Acts 17:31

  • Jesus is the only person in history to be raised from the dead never to die again:
"The God of our fathers raised Jesus, whom you killed by hanging him on a tree."  Acts 5:31

  • Jesus was the only person to ever live without sinning even once:
"He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten." 1 Peter 2:23
